HIDDEN GEM
Alice Austen House
The waterfront cottage where pioneering photographer Alice Austen lived and shot thousands of images of turn-of-the-century New York, most of them developed in a darkroom she built herself on-site. The lawn looks straight across the Narrows toward Brooklyn, and it's one of the quietest harbor views in the city.
