Deering Estate Tropical Hardwood Hammock

An old-growth hammock and pine rockland preserved on the same grounds as the historic Deering mansion, one of the last intact fragments of the ecosystem that used to cover this whole part of Florida. Fossil pits on the property have turned up Ice Age animal remains.
