Unisphere, Flushing Meadows Corona Park

The giant stainless steel globe built for the 1964 World's Fair still anchors the park, and standing at its base with the fountains running around it feels like stepping into an old postcard. It's less a skyline view and more a monument view, but it's worth the trip out on the 7 train regardless.
