HIDDEN GEM
Prison Ship Martyrs' Monument
A 149-foot granite column by Stanford White commemorating over 11,500 American prisoners of war who died aboard British ships anchored in Wallabout Bay during the Revolution, more deaths than in every Revolutionary War battle combined. It anchors the top of Fort Greene Park and most joggers pass it without knowing what it marks.
