The lit-up steel tower has been the symbol of Coney Island since the 1939 World's Fair, and standing under it with the Wonder Wheel spinning behind you and the Atlantic stretched out in front is a very specific kind of New York view. Go around dusk when the boardwalk lights and the ride lights both kick on.
