Flamingo by Alexander Calder

A bright vermillion steel stabile that towers over the Federal Plaza, deliberately curved and organic against the hard rectangular Mies van der Rohe buildings around it. Calder chose the color specifically to stand out from Chicago's steel-and-glass palette.
